The cast of "Glee" will perform a mash-up version of Michael Jackson's legendary song "Thriller" in February as part of a special after the Super Bowl football game, Fox television said on Thursday.
But the special episode will not be devoted entirely to the music of the late "King of Pop", and "Thriller" will be performed mixed in with another unnamed song, officials at the network said.
"Glee" producers have been working for months on the special episode of the TV musical comedy that will be aired immediately after the National Football League championship on February6. The annual Super Bowl is traditionally the most-watched event on U.S. television, drawing more than 100 million viewers.
Previous rumors have included reports that "Glee" producers were working on an entire Jackson-themed show, or a tribute to the music of Bruce Springsteen.
Entertainment Weekly, which was first with the "Thriller" news, said the post Super Bowl episode will also feature cover versions of tunes by Katy Perry, The Black Eyed Peas and country band Lady Antebellum and will be the most expensive in the 18 month history of "Glee".
It will also have a sports theme in keeping with Super Bowl Sunday, and will be co-sponsored by General Motors with limited commercial interruptions, Entertainment Weekly said.
Emmy-award winning "Glee", about a group of high school misfits in a show choir, has become a pop culture phenomenon since its 2009 debut, producing hit albums and singles.
Previous episodes have been devoted to the music of Madonna, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga, also boosting sales for the back catalogs of those and other artists.
Jackson, whose 1982 "Thriller" album is the biggest selling in history, died in Los Angeles in June at the age of 50 after a prescription drug overdose.

On The Fight Against Fat
When you walk into any pharmacy or supplement shop, you will see dozens of products promising to make excess body fat melt away such as a fat burner. Although manufacturers are not permitted to make these claims on the bottle, they run alluring ads in magazines and on TV.
Weight loss supplements may work in three ways: one is by helping the body to break down body fat. This involves releasing it from fat cells, where it enters the bloodstream as free fatty acids that are then transported to muscle cells where they may be burned. The second action of weight loss supplements is to suppress appetite, which is a complex process.
Many hormones and neurotransmitters are involved. We don't have all the answers in this area, but research continues. The human body's instinct is to survive, and once appetite suppressants are stopped, people become hungry.
The third way weight loss supplements may work is by inhibiting the body from absorbing fat during digestion. Fat blockers don't work if a person isn't eating fat in his or her diet.
They also won't prevent weight gain if a person is overeating protein or carbohydrates. The negative side effects of these supplements include stomach discomfort, diarrhea, and inability to absorb many important fat-soluble vitamins and other nutrients.
In addition, they may interfere with the effectiveness of certain medications, especially birth control pills and estrogen.
Often, weight loss supplements contain more than one substance to generate weight loss from more than one angle. The ingredients are available alone, or with other substances.
