Poor Blackhawks

Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Thursday that forward Marian Hossa is expected to be out of the lineup for about two weeks after being injured during the previous night's game.

Chicago said Hossa suffered an upper-body injury without being more specific. Hossa, 31, left midway through the second period of a win over Los Angeles after a collision with Kings forward Jarret Stoll.

Hossa began the season with a seven-game points streak, tallying seven goals and four assists. He has been held without a point the next four games, including the Los Angeles contest.

The Czech player joined the Blackhawks before last season, but missed the first 25 games after undergoing shoulder surgery.

Hossa won a long-awaited Stanley Cup with Chicago in June after losing in the previous two seasons with Pittsburgh and then Detroit.

Over his career, he has scored 370 goals and 411 assists in 843 regular-season games, with 106 power-play goals and 21 short-handed markers.

Find A Job

My friend is asking me to help him with finding websites where there are medical job listings and I just showed him a handful of good ones.

Ever since the age of the internet, it has been easier to find a job now online than going out and walking in offices giving out your resume.

Now you can just search for employment opportunities online, email your CV and wait for the call if you get a chance for an interview.

UFC and WEC Join Forces

Come next year, World Extreme Cagefighting will be no more.

Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White on Thursday announced that the WEC will merge with the UFC in 2011.

"It's time," White said during a UFC conference call. "As we continue to grow globally, we're doing enough fights to fold [the WEC] into the UFC. It's always been in the cards to grow this sport and add every weight class."

All WEC talent will be retained, White said, including the 135- and 145-pound champions. WEC featherweight titleholder Jose Aldo will be recognized as the new UFC champion, and the same will go for the winner of Dominick Cruz's title defense against Scott Jorgensen at the promotion's final event, WEC 53, in December. White also confirmed that Aldo will defend his new UFC title on Jan. 1 at UFC 125 "Resolution," though his opponent was still not set in stone.

In regard to the lighter weight classes headlining future UFC events, White was optimistic.

Futons are traditionally bought with only a mattress. If you have recently purchased a futon, you may need to get a futon cover to be placed over the mattress. Since futon covers are a specialty item, they can be difficult to find.

Fortunately, it's now easy to buy futon covers online. If you go to a home store, you are likely to find it difficult to locate a futon cover. You are better off if you simply order from a web retailer.

Favre Please

Favre must not understand anatomy, since he’s not going to be stepping off his heart to throw. And what I don’t understand is why this is Favre’s decision to make, rather than coach Brad Childress, although both of them should have noticed that Favre isn’t getting it done anymore.

At 41, Favre finally looks old, and not just because there’s more grey in his stubble or a few more lines etched around his eyes. It’s because he’s six games into one of his most statistically awful seasons, with the fourth-worst passer rating in the league.

"When I invited him back [to Minnesota], I said, 'Just as long as we don't throw 33 interceptions and seven touchdowns, I think we'll be OK,' " coach Brad Childress said after Sunday’s game. "I would hope it doesn't flame up to those proportions, where we flip the whole thing."

Dog Concerns

I'd like to ask to my readers, will dog pee cause water stains on laminate floors?

I am looking for laminate floors, but sometimes i might have a dog pee problem. If I clean it up right away I know it will be OK, but what if the pee sits for a day because I didn't see it.

Are there any brands that I should stay away from? I'm considering pergo accolade

But I think laminate floors are not a good idea actually. If that dog pisses on a seam where two planks meet up it can soak in and start delaminating the particle board backing.

I think I have seen a few of these floors that had some liquid sit on them. It is not pretty. Hmmm, so I think I should go for real hardwood and urethane the whole thing so I don't have any little seams or go with tile.

Dollar Still Going Down

Currency investors are bracing for dynamic changes to monetary and fiscal policy that could come next week.

Election night is Tuesday, and Republicans are expected to retake control of the House of Representatives, which could lead to a change in how much the federal government spends on economic stimulus.

But for the currency market, the bigger story is on Wednesday with a widely anticipated policy announcement from the Federal Reserve. The central bank is expected to unveil a new round of asset purchases at its policy meeting, a two-day session that wraps up on November 3.

"Investors are wondering if the Fed program is going to be one big hit of shock and awe, or if it'll be incremental," said Kevin Chau, foreign currency analyst at IDEAGlobal.

Losing Weight Challenge

My weight loss goal for this challenge is 31 lbs....that will, fingers firmly crossed, bring me down to a round 19 stone on the scales (pardon the pun!) and keep me focused over Christmas!

My long term weight-loss aspirations are to get to that magical BMI of 'Normal' - currently I sit in the 'Morbidly Obese' category which is NOT good!

I become 'Normal' at 11 stone 5 lbs (159 lbs), I drop out of the 'Morbid' range at 18 stone 3lbs, still a good way off, but I'm determined.

My short term weight loss aspirations are my wedding next year, I really don't want to be a fat bride. With good sensible weight loss I have set my self a 'wedding target' of 16 stone 3lb (227 lbs) which I feel should be easily achievable, and any more weight loss is a bonus. Whilst I won't be a slim bride, I'll be a lot slimmer and look a whole heap better in that dress that I currently do!

I need to be ordering my dress in January, and going in at 19 stone will be a lot more fun that trying dresses at 21+ stone.

Note: This is a guest post by my friend Sheila who begged me to post this here to remind her of this time when she's overweight. We wish you all luck in your journey to a healthy lifestyle!

Searching For Places

Google further honed its local search Thursday, introducing Place Search, a new program that organizes information around specific locations so users "can more easily make comparisons and decide where to go," and should snip about two seconds off such searches.

"Say you’re looking for that great barbecue restaurant with live music," writes Jackie Bavaro, Google product manager, on the company's blog. With Place Search, checking barbecue joints in the city of Austin, you get the result shown above, marked with red pins.

"Each one is a unique restaurant with relevant information and links from across the web," Bavaro wrote. "I can see that Stubb’s has live music, and I can click citysearch.com, tripadvisor.com and other sites to read reviews. In the past, the same search would return links with information about Stubb’s in different parts of the results page ... Now information is grouped conveniently to make it easier to digest and compare."

Autism?

I'm just curious if any of your kids are fascinated by ceiling fans the way Marcel is. My brother has several fans in his house and we had to keep them all on last night otherwise Marcel would get upset.

We have a fan in our living room that has to be on & right now my wife is at Lowes buying a kit so he can install a fan in Marcels therapy room. Got me to wondering about y'alls kids. I know some kids on the spectrum like vacuums.

MacBook Air Is Bag Safe

U.S. air travelers can leave their shiny new 11.6-inch MacBook Air laptops in their bags when passing through airport security checkpoints according to the TSA. The 13.3-inch model, however, is too big and still must come out for separate screening.

The TSA's policy kills the notion that electronic devices without hard drives can stay in traveler’s bags since the 13.3-inche version of the MacBook Air has to pass through X-ray machines outside of carryon bags. Like the 11.6-inch MacBook Air, the 13.3-inch model uses flash RAM for data storage instead of a hard drive.

The 11.6-inch MacBook Air (left) is TSA checkpoint safe

Other smaller devices, like the iPad, Amazon's Kindle and other ebook readers, can travel through security checkpoints in carryon bags. Netbook computers, even though they typically include internal hard drives, can stay in bags, too.

Electronics the TSA considers to be "standard laptop" size and larger — which apparently includes the 13.3-inch MacBook Air — still get the honor of traveling through X-ray machines in their own bin or in TSA-approved carryon bags.

"Electronic items smaller than the standard sized laptop should not need to be removed from your bag or their cases. It's that simple," the TSA states on its blog.

Now that the TSA has deemed the 11.6-inch MacBook Air falls into its magical safe zone, even more travelers may consider buying one for easier passage through airports.

Be A Smarter Car Owner

Buying car insurance is not a top priority for people because they think that this is an unnecessary expense and can be quite costly. I would have to disagree because protecting your assets is an essential part of personal finance.

A car is not something you can easily buy. It takes a lot of money and hard work to be able to afford one. So you have to make sure that you get the most out of your earned money by making sure that your car lasts long.

Having an auto insurance is a way you can protect your investment and at the same time, save money when the unexpected occurs. Be smart and insure your car now.

What's Up Verizon?

Verizon Wireless will pay $25 million to the U.S. Treasury and refund a minimum $52.8 million to about 15 million customers it allegedly charged "mystery fees," under a Federal Communications Commission consent decree.

The FCC said the payment to the government was the largest in agency history. It began investigating Verizon Wireless—a joint venture between Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group PLC—after a large number of consumer complaints and press reports about unexplained data charges. The probe focused on fees charged to "pay-as-you-go" customers who don't subscribe to a data package or plan.

The FCC said it found about 15 million such customers who were or may have been overcharged for data usage from November 2007 to the present.

"Today's settlement requires Verizon Wireless to make meaningful business reforms, prevent future overcharges, and provide consumers clear, easy-to-understand information about their choices," said Michele Ellison, chief of the FCC's enforcement bureau.

A Verizon Wireless spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

Things I Wish I Was Buying

Just doing some wishful thinking today and as of the moment, my current daydream are the things I wish I needed to buy.

Like Ferrari parts for my car, or a ticket to the Bahamas.

I wish I was buying the majority shares of Google or the formula for Coca Cola.

It would be nice if I'm on my way to purchase some laptops to give away to schools or funding a social welfare organization for the urban poor.

If only I could buy love and happiness, that would be great - but I think none as greater than being able to buy world peace.

Big Love Ends

HBO announced its polygamy drama "Big Love" will return for its fifth, and final season on Sunday, Jan 16.

That tippity-tap-tap noise you hear is the sound of me breaking into a Happy Dance.

Much verbal trilling followed in HBO's email:

HBO Programming president Michael Lombardo: "It has been an honor and pleasure to work with series creators Mark V. Olsen - 'V' to his friends - and Will Scheffer on this unique and provocative series."

Okay, yes, we made up that "V to his friends" bit.

"V" and Scheffer: "When we created BIG LOVE in 2002, we had a strong conception of the journey the Henrickson family would make over the course of the series, of the story we had to tell. While we were in the writers' room this year shaping our fifth season, we discovered that we were approaching the culmination of that story."

In case you've missed it, "Big Love" is about a guy named Bill Henrickson, who lives in Salt Lake City, and who has three wives -- Barb, Nicki and Margene - living in three consecutive houses with their nine kids, leading lives of quiet desperation - all of which could be solved quickly if someone would give the women little hatchets. Bill Paxton, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloƫ Sevigny and Ginnifer Goodwin star.

Some Real Constructions At the Farm

My father has decided to add a small metal building in our farm. He wants to build it himself but I think it will be more cost-effective if he would hire a contractor.

Not only can he spend his time in other more productive things, he will also save himself the labor and headache of a construction project.

Choosing the right contractor, however, is key.

That's why we will be spending this weekend knowing our requirements so we can ask for the best possible quotation from contractors and hopefully, get the cheapest prices.

Mariah Pregnant

Los Angeles - Pop diva Mariah Carey has announced that she's pregnant. Her statement Thursday that she's expecting her first child with husband Nick Cannon came after months of speculation on gossip websites about her pregnancy.

'Yes, we're pregnant, this is true. It's still early, we're expecting in the spring,' said Carey.

'It's been a long journey, but it's been tough because I've been trying to hold onto a shred of privacy. And that was not easy,' she said in a statement that also revealed that she previously suffered a miscarriage shortly after she and Cannon started dating.

Green Is The Next Bubble

I just saw Wall Street - Money Never Sleeps and the best line there for me is "Green" is the next bubble. And I would somehow agree.

But unlike the internet bubble before, the exit signs for this new bubble will definitely be harder to see. But I think that it will be several years before it actually bursts.

So what do we do now while the market is poised for instant wealth in the environment friendly industry? Well, buy and buy because as it was said before, "Greed is Good".

Kara Is Going Platinum

Bravo has announced a new reality TV Show featuring Kara DioGuardi called "Going Platinum". I had a feeling Kara wouldn’t be out of the spotlight very long. According to the Huffington Post it is a song-writing competition which is perfectly fitting since that is DioGuardi’s expertise so to speak. She has written songs for A-list singers like Pink and Carrie Underwood.

Kara will be head judge of the new series that will have the contestants live together as they compete for the $100,000 grand prize. In what I think is a good move singer Jewel will be the host of the competition. There is rumored to be a total of 12 contestants and of course various singing challenges too. A Bravo rep has confirmed that this new competition series will debut next year sometime and will be airing on Tuesday nights. This is just the latest unscripted series in the music talent genre to make it on air. It seems every network is trying to come up with their series that will be a hit like American Idol.

Kara DioGuardi "Going Platinum" reality TV show, it seems like a good idea to me. I mean it has a slightly different angle than other music series competitions out there. I wasn’t that much of a fan of Kara’s when she was on American Idol but Bravo does know how to put out a good unscripted series so I will probably check it out. Those are my thoughts on the topic let me know if you will be checking out the latest music talent competition series with DioGuardi?

An N95 Discovery

I have owned the Nokia N95 for a few months now, and personally I think its a fantastic phone, it has its few problems here and there, but overall you couldn't ask for anything better for a phone right now.

I have known for a little while now of the barcode scanner on the phone, but after many attempts at trying to scan items found around my room, from Lynx bottles to photography magazines, and failing each time, I gave up trying to use it.

That was back at Christmas, and on a random trip around the phone last night I again came across the barcode scanner, but this time decided to google it and find out how it really works, and what I found really impressed me.

To start off with, I found I was trying to scan the wrong things, it turns out Nokia had created their own square barcodes, where you can encode URL's, messages and even phone numbers into the image. The N95 can then scan the image, and read the contents of the message.

Jake and Taylor Are Dating

Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift set the rumor mill abuzz after they spent a fun-packed weekend in New York together, but at this point sources say their relationship is unlikely to get serious.

Swift, 20, has just released a new album, Speak Now, and isn't in a position to get entangled in a romance, according to a source close to the singer.

Even after this weekend's social events – which included a visit to Saturday Night Live set and a friendly brunch in Brooklyn – the two are just hanging out for now, a Gyllenhaal source agrees.

Whether romance blossoms between the two remains to be seen, although the Swift source predicts she'll look outside the entertainment business for long-term love.

Testimonial on Acne Creams

I've been using an acne cream to get rid of my pimples for the past few months and I should say that they really work.

Acne is perhaps the most unruly thing that anyone can experience. For some people, acne is but a normal part of their lives but acne is expected to come off soon as those unruly hormones finally find a way to settle down.

However, some people seem to never get out of the acne nightmare. This is especially true among those who have extremely sensitive skin.

In cases such as these, people are forced to find a way to protect their skin from the unwanted breakout. Since dermatological procedures cannot be conducted that often because of the costs, acne treatment creams can be used instead.

These acne treatment creams are often used after the face has been washed and rid off from the sebum and dirt it may have accumulated. Acne treatment creams work pretty much like other beauty products do.

But before you buy any acne cream treatments, what you should first deal with is the actual condition of your skin. Know what skin type you have so that you can trim down your options accordingly. Having an acne prone skin happens in both oily and really dry skin.

If you are unsure about the type of skin you have, you should not hesitate to consult a dermatologist first. It is actually wiser to choose an acne cream treatment based on a licensed dermatologist’s prescription.
