ABC, CBS and NBC are blocking TV programming on their websites from being viewable on Google Inc.'s new Web-TV service, exposing the rift that remains between the technology giant and some of the media companies it wants to supply content for its new products.
Full-length episodes of shows like NBC's "The Office," CBS's "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," and ABC's "Modern Family" can't be viewed on Google TV, a service that allows people to access the Internet and search for Web videos on their television screens, as well as to search live TV listings. Logitech International S.A. and Sony Corp. began selling devices running the software this month.
Spokespeople for the three networks confirmed that they are blocking the episodes on their websites from playing on Google TV, although both ABC and NBC allow promotional clips to work using the service. ABC is owned by Walt Disney Co., CBS is part of CBS Corp., and NBC is a unit of General Electric Co.'s NBC Universal.
"Google TV enables access to all the Web content you already get today on your phone and PC, but it is ultimately the content owners' choice to restrict their fans from accessing their content on the platform," a Google spokeswoman said in a statement.
The move marks an escalation in ongoing disputes between Google and some media companies, which are skeptical that Google can provide a business model that would compensate them for potentially cannibalizing existing broadcast businesses.
Over the summer, Google pressed major media companies to optimize their websites and videos to work more seamlessly with Google TV. Some outlets, including Time Warner Inc.'s HBO and Turner Broadcasting networks, did so. Even NBC Universal's CNBC embraced the service, optimizing some content to work specifically on Google TV.
But many other companies declined to specifically optimize their websites, and some held out the possibility that they could block their content from the service, as the three networks are now doing. Some TV executives said they were worried their shows would be lost in the larger Internet. Some, including Disney and NBC, were also concerned about Google's stance on websites that offer pirated content, according to people familiar with their thinking.
Disney executives, for example, asked that Google filter out results from pirate sites when users search for Disney content, like "Desperate Housewives." But they were unsatisfied with Google's response, according to people familiar with the conversations.
News Corp.'s Fox Broadcasting and Viacom Inc.'s MTV aren't blocking Google TV from playing episodes on their websites, according to a spot check Thursday. Spokespeople for Fox and MTV confirmed they are not currently blocking Google TV, but the Fox spokeswoman said "a firm decision has not yet been reached." News Corp. also owns The Wall Street Journal.
For its part, Google has tried to assure broadcasters and content owners such as Disney that Google TV's search feature is optimized to promote their TV broadcasts and own websites' video content rather than pirated content, according to a person familiar with the matter.
In addition, Google has also told broadcasters and content owners they can submit requests to Google to delete unauthorized results from the Google TV search feature, just like they do for results in Google's traditional Web search engine, this person said.
Some shows—from siblings of the networks that are blocking their content—were working on Google TV on Thursday. Shows from the CW network, which is jointly owned by CBS and Time Warner, appear to play on Google TV, as do some from Lifetime, a cable channel jointly owned by Walt Disney Co., Hearst Inc., and NBC Universal.
Google won't directly make money from the sale of the Google TV software, but the software's use will benefit Google's ad-supported Web search engine and is expected to increase viewership of the ad-supported YouTube site, which is owned by Google. The company also has been in talks with Madison Avenue's media-buying firms to discuss how to sell ads on the Google TV interface without interfering with TV commercials, people familiar with the matter have said.
But the three networks are also not alone in blocking their content. Video site Hulu, whose owners include Disney, NBC Universal and News Corp., also blocks its video from being played through the Google TV interface. Spokeswomen for both Hulu and Google said the companies are in talks to bring the Hulu Plus subscription service to Google TV.

On Shampoos
Shampoos are a kind of cleaning agent that contains chemical detergents and work well in cleaning dirt. There are 3 types of shampoos we can see in the market.
They are either shampoo for dry hair, for normal hair, or for oily hair. Shampoos for dry hair will contain oil and as for normal or oily hair shampoo there will be no oil. It is definitely important for you to choose the right shampoo for your hair condition. Wrong use of shampoo over a period of time can cause hair loss.
However, there are shampoos that are being marketed as hair loss products and for people with hair loss, proper hair care is very important. And these can somehow help but of course, products that are specifically designed to address hair loss is always better than shampoos.

Paranormal Activity 2 Is A Big Hit
Given the thousands of fans who lined up at theaters around the country for the midnight screenings of "Paranormal Activity 2" this week, it's no surprise that the early reports of the film's box-office performance so far are quite positive.
According to Paramount, the sequel brought in a record-breaking $6.3 million from 1,800 screens on Thursday, passing the previous $4.6 million record held by "Watchmen" to become the all-time highest midnight grosser for an R-rated film.
Reviews for the follow-up to "Paranoramal Activity" have been mostly positive, but the real story behind the film's success is the response from the fans, many of whom participated in the "Demand it!" campaign in order to bring early screenings of the film to their desired city. And so far, their reactions are likely exactly what the filmmakers want to hear.
"I'm still shaking," one fan said. Another added, "I'm just at a loss for words. That's just way worse than the first one, but good ... in a good way."
"Paranormal Activity" director and "PA 2" producer Oren Peli said that what makes the films so scary is twofold, the found footage factor that connects audiences to the story on a personal level, as well as tapping into a universal primal fear: things that go bump in the night.
"It taps into people's primal fears of what happens at night and while you're asleep and most vulnerable," he said. "So, the first one, and this one as well, kind of taps into those types of fears that everyone, across the world, shares."

Beach Bumming
I'm planning to go beach bumming soon and that's why I've been reading on some tanning lotion reviews online - and there are a lot out there, as expected.
I'm actually looking for a tanning lotion that can enhance the healthy glow of my skin instantly. I want a non-greasy, fast-drying, fresh fragranced formula that provides instant, natural looking color without the sun.
It should be specially formulated with bronzers to enable you to see where you have applied product and to provide an even, flawless, streak-free, natural looking tan.
Of course, I want a product with a good price, a not so expensive self-tanner that can come in a large tube, which allows you to use quite a bit of it if I want.

Beyonce Not Pregnant, Says Mother
The mother of pop star Beyonce on Thursday shot down a report her daughter is pregnant, saying that if all the baby bump rumors about the singer were true over the years, she should have five or six grandchildren.
"No, no it's not true. Not right now," Tina Knowles said when asked about the report by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
One day earlier, Us Weekly magazine published a story saying the "Single Ladies" singer, 29, and her husband, producer and rapper Jay-Z, were expecting their first child.
The Us Weekly story is published in the magazine's November 1 issue, and on Thursday an Us Weekly spokeswoman told Reuters, "we stand by our reporting."
But Tina Knowles would beg to differ. She said on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that "with all the rumors by now I should have five or six grandchildren."
In fact, pregnancy rumors have long swirled around the popular singer and her husband, who have been married for more than two years. A spokesman for Beyonce said he never comments on speculation about her private life.

Find What Works
I was asked by a friend who was trying to lose weight what I think is the best diet pills for women. Honestly, I believe there is really no best diet pill - only those that works best with your body.
When looking for a diet pill - always buy first in small packages and see how your body reacts to it. Some pills may have no effect, and that would be a waste of your money.
As long as you buy reputable brands, I believe there is no harm in trying out several pills until you get the one which works best with your body. And after that, always complement your weight loss with a balanced food intake and regular exercise.

Conan Is Back
Conan begins airing on November 8 (just a little over two weeks!), so it's about time we knew who his first guests would be. Seth Rogen, Jack White, and the winner of Conan's special-guest poll will appear on the first episode (the winner, at this point, looks to be Jack Nicholson).
Rounding out the rest of the week are Tom Hanks, Jack McBrayer, Soundgarden, Jon Hamm, Charlyne Yi, Michael Cera, and Julie Bowen. With the exception of the obviously megafamous Hanks, that's a nicely curated mix of pretty famous to a little bit less famous, all relatively cool people. We're looking forward to it.

Exercise For Best Results
A friend is raving about her new discovery - she's been able to find a few fat burners that work well with her and she says that she's been constantly shedding pounds with it.
However, I said that taking them may not be enough and she should seriously consider doing some exercise to maximize her weight loss. Personally, I have tried a few things with great results and found that running is the simplest.
Not on a treadmill but outside. The climate, hot or cold, will intensify the work out. A mile and a half is about average distance. Aim to finish in 12 to 10 min.
Running is not for everyone though. It is rough on knees and backs. Swimming is arguably a better workout than running. You do not have to do back stroke or anything fancy, just swim freestyle.
Quick laps from one end of the pool to the other and swimming around following the side to catch your breath is a good workout.

Beyonce Is Pregnant
The 29 year old star, who is married to rapper Jay-Z, is said to be "shocked" but pleased at the news.
She had told friends she wanted to start a family but had wanted to complete a world tour and finish her latest album. News of the pregnancy was revealed by celebrity magazine US Weekly.
A spokesman for Beyoncé has refused to comment on the report. According to the magazine no one was more surprised about the pregnancy than the "Single Ladies" singer herself.
"B was shocked. She loves kids, but she wasn't ready to be a mother just yet," said a source. "She really wanted to get her album done and tour the world again."
Beyoncé is said to be in her first trimester which is less than 14 weeks.
Earlier this year the singer had expressed her desire to start a family saying she "definitely" wants to have children with her husband.
"I hope that those things will just happen naturally," she said of her baby plans.
While there is no official confirmation friends and family have begun offering their congratulations.
Her younger sister Solange Knowles said: "She's got the most beautiful heart. She'll be a great mum."
Record exec Kevin Liles said rapper Jay-Z, who married the singer in 2008, will be a great father. "Jay has been all about family since I met him, and he's always going to be," said Mr Liles.
Texas born Beyoncé is one of the best selling female artists of all time.
She began her career with all girl group "Destiny's Child" before releasing a solo album in 2003 that included one of her biggest hits "Crazy in Love".
While her musical career flourished selling more than 100 million records worldwide she also turned to acting and appeared in the Oscar nominated "Dreamgirls".
After she married Jay-Z in 2008 they were named as the second most powerful couple in showbusiness with a combined fortune of more than $1 billion.
Her financial empire includes a fashion line called the "House of Dereon" and she has lucrative sponsorship deals with Pepsi, L'Oreal and Armani.
She has said one of her proudest moments was attending President Barack Obama's inauguration ball where she performed as the first couple danced to her singing.
Despite her often provocative videos, Beyoncé says she is naturally shy and kept her relationship with Jay-Z a closely guarded secret for six years.
She claims that when she performs she takes on an alter ego known as Sasha Fierce who is able to be more outgoing and overtly sexual than she is in real life.

Acne and Foods
The role of food ingestion in the causation of acne is a controversial one. Most dermatology text books swear that there is no role and most dermatologists toe the line.
But personally I would say that food habits definitely do affect the pathophysiology of acne and acneiform eruptions. A friend, who is a dermatologists, have said to me that for acne skin care treatment, one can always first watch ones diet.
Many of her patients who have been on remission without clinical acne after treatment) and on a "no chocolate, no ice cream, no cola, no fried fast food' regimen have come back experiencing severe outbreaks after they restart their junk food habits!
And she says that this has been proven in more than two decades of solid observations! Thus, chocolates and fatty food are best avoided if you are a person with acne prone skin.
