While looking at some gps reviews
online, I discovered that Garmin, a popular GPS manufacturer, is now having a voluntary recall of some of their models for the Nuvi GPS navigator products. The reason for this is because some of them have issues in the batteries which could overheat and catch flame.
This global positioning system has an approximate 1.25 million units in the market today.
"Although there have been no injuries or significant property damage caused by this issue, Garmin is taking this action out of an abundance of caution," the company said in a release.
The specific models affected in this recall are the 200W, 2550W and 260W as well as the 7xx and 7xxT, where xx is a two-digit number.
Owners of this device are encouraged to visit https://my.garmin.com/rma/recallLanding.faces, where they can input their device's serial number to see if it should be returned to the place where they purchased it.

Jeremy Renner Joins Next Mission Impossible Movie
Ethan Hunt has just picked up a new Mission: Impossible team member and he’s specialty is bombs.
Jeremy Renner, who starred as Sergeant First Class William James in "The Hurt Locker," has been cast opposite Tom Cruise in the next installment of Paramount’s "Mission: Impossible" franchise, which is aiming for a Dec. 16, 2011 release date.
Brad Bird is directing a script from Josh Applebaum and André Nemec, with shooting expected to begin in the fall.
Repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment, Renner has been on a tear since his Oscar nomination for "Locker" earlier this year. Marvel recently cast him as Hawkeye in its 2012 release, "The Avengers," which is supposed to start shooting in February, and Paul Thomas Anderson wants him for his next film, "The Master."
But the "M:I-4" development is a curious one. As Paramount, Cruise and producer J.J. Abrams, who directed and co-wrote the previous installment, had discussed a new dynamic for the fourth film, the plan was for younger actors to join the M:I team as a hedge if they decided to reboot the series at some point with Cruise’s character absent or less central.
Renner is about to turn 40 years old, which makes him just eight years younger than Cruise, who is supposedly doing "M:i4" with a new pay structure. If Renner has been cast as a potential successor, that undercuts the idea of carrying on the franchise as a more youthful enterprise.
Deadline New York first reported the Renner casting.

Learning About Koi Care
I've been trying to study about koi lately and I learned from one of the owners of a koi pond supplies store that one of the first things you need to know are factors to consider in terms of pond design, pond size and depth, and pond construction before you build your own Koi fishpond.
A Japanese or Oriental design is popular in Koi ponds. Features like a waterfall or fountain are an attractive addition. A pond measuring 10 X 10 feet is recommended to hold up to three koi fish. Koi require deeper water than other pond fish.
Do not overcrowd the pond because Koi need a large enough area to swim. Smooth rocks will keep them from being injured when they spawn on the bottom of your pond. Koi have been called the 'rabbit of the river'. Each female can lay thousands of eggs in a season.
The most important part of keeping the best quality stock is understanding and properly using Koi pond supplies. Maintain your pond regularly to keep it free of debris. To decrease the risk of having water quality problems, use a pump and filter system throughout the year.
Using a pond heater prevents sores, diseases, and guards against temperature changes. Without a heater, Koi will drop to the bottom of the pond and remain inactive.
Koi should be fed daily. There is special Koi pellet food to feed your fish. Koi food is nutritionally balanced, and floats to encourage the fish to the surface. They also enjoy a bit of variety. Koi will often eat peas, lettuce, and watermelons. Koi will recognize the person feeding them and gather around at feeding times. They can be trained to take food from your hand.
Take extra precaution for the safety of your fish against wildlife. There are nets or motion detectors to protect your fish from harm. The Koi's bright colors put them at a severe disadvantage against predators. Raccoons, cats, foxes, and badgers would like to make a meal of your Koi fish.
Koi are some of the most colorful fish in the world. They are symbols of love and friendship in Japan. Koi are believed to bring good luck or fung shui in Chinese culture. You will receive decades of pleasure from knowing how to care for Koi.

Miley and Liam Breaks It Off
Miley Cyrus is ending the summer as a single lady. The teen queen has split from her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth after more than a year of dating.
Hemsworth's PR representative confirmed the "Can't Be Tamed" singer and her beefy Australian beau have officially called it quits. "It's true," the actor's rep told RadarOnline.com. The news comes after reports that the couple were getting serious. According to Radar, Cyrus recently purchased a $3.4 million house, not far from her parents' California home, where Hemsworth was a frequent guest.
Hemsworth and Cyrus struck up a romance after meeting on the film set of "The Last Song" in 2009. The pop star said earlier this year that although she wasn't on the lookout for a boyfriend, Hemsworth won her over with his gentlemanly charm.
"I kind of just wanted to focus on my work. I tend to hide behind my work sometimes," Cyrus said on "Ellen" in March. "But I met him, and he opened the door for me, and I was like, I have been in L.A. for three years and I don't think any guy has actually opened the door for me. It wasn't that he wanted the job. That's just who he is. I was like, 'Wow, that is super-impressive.' I actually turned to the director and said, 'He's got the job.' He's hot and he opened the door. Excellent."
Cyrus, who dropped her latest album, Can't Be Tamed, in June, said that much of the LP was inspired by her romance with Hemsworth.
"There are a lot of songs that are about Liam," Cyrus told news reported when Tamed was released. "I tell him every one's about him," she quipped.

Ancient Art

The artist did everything by hand, using methods handed down though generations of craftsmen. It takes a steady hand and good eye to paint the finely detailed figures and designs.
It's something I saw inside my friend's house and I was simply amazed at how beautiful it is. I don't know if there's anyone right now who still does this but I'm sure there's not as many as before.
Bad Day for Philippine Stocks
LOCAL STOCKS fell sharply Tuesday as a bloody hostage-taking incident in Manila weighed down investor sentiment and escalated profit-taking pressures, stock experts said.
The main-share Philippine Stock Exchange composite index lost 82.74 points or about 2.3 percent to close at 3,530.49. It was the worst daily performance by the local bourse in the last three months.
Although the index was widely expected to correct downward after hitting fresh 31-month highs and a six-day run-up, the hostage-taking crisis that had painted Philippine tourism in a bad light took a heavy toll on the equities market.
"It precipitated a lot of profit-taking and kept buyers out of the market for the meantime," said Joseph Roxas, president of Eagle Equities Inc.
About 2 percentage points of the day’s decline could be attributed to the incident, Roxas said, as the US market was only modestly down overnight. The closely watched Dow Jones industrial index lost 39.21 points or 0.38 percent on Monday to end at 10,174.41.
"From the start, the mood was negative, a possible consequence of the events at Rizal Park. The hostage situation hogged headlines and even made rounds in international news. The event was on everyone’s minds and may have psychologically increased investor bias to sell. Selling was broad based although index issues were the focus of most of trades," said AB Capital Securities analyst Prince Anthony
At the local stock market, there were nearly four decliners for every single gainer. Value turnover declined to P4.2 billion from nearly P5 billion in previous days.
Although the local index had fallen below the 3,600 early in the session, a late spurt of blue chips selling aggravated the index decline for the day.
Aurelio Montinola III, president of Bank of the Philippine Islands and the influential Bankers Association of the Philippines, said Monday’s incident was "unfortunate" and that it might affect tourism in the country. He said the country and its people would have to find ways to move on and deal with this tragedy.

Lake Tahoe
A friend of mine has recently moved out from his home in Golden, Colorado to the beautiful Lake Tahoe. He is an avid skier and chef, and was torn between whether to live on the north or south shore.
From the really nice things I've heard about South Lake Tahoe, I am actually biased, it's so breathtaking out there. You'll be surrounded by mountains and have a full view of one of nature's best.
And another great things about being in Lake Tahoe, is that you can get the Blue Advantage to protect you and your family. It's something you should really think about.

Do Your Due Diligence
One thing that I never forget to do whenever I'm faced with important decisions in my life is to do my due diligence. This habit has saved me time, effort and money countless times.
Just like the time when I bought a second-hand car, I did not just accepted the insurance that my dealer offered. I first researched and collected several car insurance quotes, studied them and then decided which one to get.
Doing my due diligence at that time ensured that I got the best deal, that I had the coverage I needed at the least amount of cost.

Betty White Wins at the 2010 Emmys
Betty White, 88, who went from '80s "Golden Girl" to viral It girl, snagged a Creative Arts Emmy on Saturday for her guest-starring role on NBC's "Saturday Night Live."
After a hilarious Super Bowl commercial sparked a Facebook campaign aimed at landing White an "SNL" hosting gig, the comedy legend helmed the Mother's Day tribute episode in May. The appearance boosted the sketch-comedy show's ratings, drawing in the biggest viewership in 18 months.
White wasn't the only star lauded for superior host skills. Neil Patrick Harris took home an Emmy for his role as MC of the 63rd Annual Tony Awards, which nabbed hardware for Outstanding Special Class Program. The "How I Met Your Mother" star was a multiple award-winner Saturday night and also scored a win for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his turn as jerky Bryan Ryan on Fox's "Glee."
Other winners at Saturday's ceremony include the HBO wartime miniseries "The Pacific" with seven trophies. Newbie ABC comedy hit "Modern Family" and "SNL" both took home three awards. Animated FOX stalwart "The Simpsons" nailed two awards, including an Outstanding Voice Over Performance win for Anne Hathaway's guest role as Princess Penelope. Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" landed a win for Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special for its comedic repackaging of the news.
The television community still awaits the Primetime Emmy Awards which will air live on NBC August 29. Hit shows like "Glee," "American Idol," "30 Rock" and "Mad Men" are up for awards.

Getting Ready For The Holidays
It's going to be the holidays soon and now is actually the time to shop for promotional items to give. If you wait too long, then the prices of possible corporate giveaways could go up already.
This is something I learned from my office as I work indirectly with the accounting department on this. And now, I am applying the same principle for myself as I now start making my Christmas gift list as early as now.
Getting promo items will not only save you money but also, makes sure that you get the best gift ideas ahead of time before they become sold out.
I remember the Zsu Zsu pets craze last year and since I caught on the trend early, I was really able to buy several of it that I either gave away as a gift or sold for more than twice its price because of its high demand come December.
