The singer tells Larry King that she tested "borderline positive" for Lupus.
The pop phenomenon threw her fans for yet another loop Tuesday when she appeared on "Larry King Live" in an outfit that could have been ripped from the veteran interviewer's closet, suspenders and all. Mimicking his signature hunched-over pose, Gaga looked like a vampy, drag incarnation of King, but it wasn't just her freakish look that got people talking.
Once again, the pint-sized pop culture phenom stirred the pot of truths and lies about who she really is.
Gaga revealed to King that she tested "borderline positive" for lupus , the connective-tissue disease. A few weeks ago, she had told the Times of London that despite occasional "heart palpitations and ... things," she was perfectly fine.
"Lupus is in my family and it is genetic," Gaga said. Her aunt died of lupus in 1976. "The truth is, I don't show any signs, any symptoms of lupus. But I have tested borderline positive for the disease. So, as of right now, I do not have it, but I have to take good care of myself."
But Gaga doesn't exactly abide by the dictionary definition of healthy living. She told the Times of London that she indulges in "a single cigarette -- with whiskey -- while I'm working, because it just frees my mind a little bit."

Quaker Oats
While searching for a good cholesterol supplement online, a friend of mine told me that I should visit the Quaker Oats website.
Curious as to why, I learned that he wanted me to read an interesting question in their FAQ page. The question goes, "Do oats contain cholesterol?"

Goodbye Louise Bourgeois
French-born U.S. sculptor Louise Bourgeois, one of the world's most influential contemporary artists, died on Monday in Manhattan where she lived, the New York Times reported. She was 98.
The newspaper quoted Wendy Williams, managing director of the Louise Bourgeois Studio, as saying the artist died of a heart attack.
Bourgeois' works in a variety of media ranging from wood to steel to stone tended to center on the human form, although among her most instantly recognizable pieces were giant spider sculptures, some of which were three storeys high.
Tate Modern in London acquired one such work entitled "Maman," measuring more than nine meters tall and executed in 1999. A bronze version of Maman, which Bourgeois called "an ode to my mother," went on display outside the gallery in 2007.
The New York Times said her works "shared a set of repeated themes centered on the human body and its need for nurture and protection in a frightening world."

Worst Memorial Weekend at the Movies in 15 Years
No SATC, women-rule-the-box-office effect this time around. This past weekend was the most sluggish Memorial Day at the movies since 1995—a bad omen for summer business, since the May holiday is typically one of the bigger release frames.
The Sex and the City sequel—ye of $153 million in 2008—wilted under the critics’ heat lamp. So did Disney’s Prince of Persia, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and his pectorals. What gives?
Good news first! If our luck holds, we may be spared Sex and the City 3 or Prince of Persia: Obligatory After-Colon Clause. SATC2’s blah outing—an estimated average of less than $15,000 per theater over four days—means this franchise is likely kaput.
The movie opened Thursday (Wednesday at midnight in some locations) to capture pre-holiday travelers, but the reviews were noxious, and their odoriferous stink traveled fast.
Meanwhile, Prince of Persia put its chips on a biceptual Boy Next Door, and action-star status is something that Gyllenhaal perhaps wasn’t ready for. With a production budget of $200 million and a $100 million marketing campaign, the movie’s estimated $37.8 million haul looks even more piddling.
The bad news? Like a spurned lover turning to ice cream, America drowned its sorrows in Shrek. Again. The movie opened two weeks ago to a mild reception, but picked up speed in its second week on buzz and best-of-the-worst status.
Does this mean we’ll get a fifth? DreamWorks said in 2009 that this installment would be the last of the series—it’s called Shrek Forever After, for finality’s sake. But you never know.

Things Which I've Been Reading Online
To while away my time, I've been reading some random news online and it's interesting to discover the many things I've learned and the trivial topics which I have discovered while aimlessly going from one website to another.
Some of the topics I've read is about Outer banks foreclosures and the experiments to test vaccines for cancer. Both of which I am not familiar with and I initially thought reading the news would bore me, but to my surprise, I found them quite interesting.
Meanwhile, some news items and blogs about tech wrote about the latest mobile phones and the upcoming Asus Tablet. I spent a good amount of time reading them while thinking if I should really save up for a new mobile phone or sell my iPod Touch for an iPad.
In the end, I think it was very therapeutic to read these random news. It takes away my mind off work while it fills me with current events and interesting bits of information which I could use in conversation.

That's Lame MIA
M.I.A. has been in the news an awful lot in the past week, but it's not because of her excellent new single "Born Free," the controversial video for said track or her hotly-anticipated album.
Rather, she has been on the lips of music fans and media followers alike, as her feud with writer Lynn Hirschberg has continued to escalate.
Following what she thought was an unfair profile in The New York Times, M.I.A. tweeted Hirschberg's personal phone number last week. And just to let everybody know that she means business, M.I.A. released the dis track "I'm a Singer" over the weekend.
Here's the thing: Not only is "I'm a Singer" a pretty weak track (both as a dis and as an M.I.A. song), but it's also totally unnecessary. Hirschberg has no real recourse (she has already called M.I.A.'s tweeting of her phone number "unprofessional" and "unethical"), and, ultimately, she's just a writer.

Guatemala Sinkhole
After seeing the photo of the giant sinkhole which has opened up in Guatemala City, I began to think of safety products which I can buy.
I'm sure you will think about this too if you can see the picture from the Guatemalan Government which is not going around the internet and newspapers.
It’s a terrifying scene especially after hearing that this giant sinkhole swallowed up an entire building and a house. Reports indicate that this giant sink hole is at least 200 feet deep.
This sinkhole came about after a week of heavy rains in Guatemala City. Tropical storm Agatha reportedly has taken over 130 lives. Authorities have yet to confirm if the giant sinkhole in Guatemala City added to the death toll although initial reports state that one security guard did die in the sink hole.

Noynoy Will Host EU Meet Up
As the proclamation of the next President draws near, presidential frontrunner, Sen. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III will meet with a group of world leaders at his residence in Quezon City today.
According to the Aquino camp, the senator will meet with a delegation of European ambassadors, led by European Union Ambassador to the Philippines Alistaire McDonald, at around 2 p.m. at his home on Times Street.
Earlier, the President apparent had already played host to several foreign diplomats at his residence, including US Ambassador to the Philippines Harry Thomas and representatives from Japan and China.
Aquino, son of democracy icons the late President Corazon Aquino and Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., has also received numerous letters and official communications congatulating him for winning in the country's first automated elections held last May 10.

Nikon or Canon?
My friend is torn between buying a Nikon or a Canon camera. He's been planning to buy a DSLR for the longest time and he now has the budget to buy it.
I did some research on the subject and found that both brands have their own strengths and weaknesses. They say that Nikon cameras are versatile and more durable. While Canon cameras produce better pictures.
I guess I will just print out all the things I learned about both brands and give it to my friend. Then I will just let him decide which one he would prefer and like.
Personally, I'm just glad he'll be buying a DSLR camera soon. It means I will be able to borrow it when I need it. Hehe.

Flotilla Passengers Wear Life Vests
The Gaza protest flotilla ships were about 150 miles from Gaza late on Sunday night, they had been sighted by the Israeli navy and were in contact with them. Flotilla passengers had put on life vests and were on high alert, they reported via their live feed.
They were told by the navy they had two options: Either be boarded or follow the navy in to Ashdod harbor to be processed there.
An Al-Jazeera reporter aboard the flotilla said they had not expected to be intercepted by the Israeli navy so early, while still in international waters, and they were taken by surprise when hailed by the navy.
Israeli Navy ships set sail earlier Sunday night for what was expected to be a dramatic showdown out at sea as they try to prevent a flotilla of international aid ships from breaking the blockade on the Gaza Strip.
After several days of delays due to diplomatic and mechanical difficulties, six ships set sail for the Gaza Strip on Sunday afternoon with the aim of arriving at the Palestinian port at 2 pm Monday.
Mary Hughes, one of the founders of the Free Gaza Movement, told The Jerusalem Post from Cyprus that the group was determined to reach Gaza.
“They [the Israel Navy Y.K.] has stopped us before in various ways and we do not intend to be intimated,” Hughes said. “We have so many people who want to go to Gaza so it doesn’t matter what the Israelis do to us. As long as people want to go and to send boats it will continue.”
The flotilla, which includes three cargo ships and three passenger ships, is carrying materials that Israel bars from reaching Gaza on a regular basis, like cement and other building materials. The activists said they also were carrying hundreds of electrical-powered wheelchairs, prefabricated homes and water purifiers.
After the ships are stopped, the Navy will sail them to the Ashdod Port where the cargo will be unloaded, inspected and then transferred, via land crossings, to the Gaza Strip. The passengers will be deported. Those who refuse to willingly leave the country will be arrested.
Some 700 pro-Palestinian activists are on the boats, including 1976 Nobel peace laureate Mairead Corrigan Maguire, European legislators and an elderly Holocaust survivor.
The mission has experienced repeated delays, both due to mechanical problems and a decision by Cyprus to bar any boat from sailing from its shore to Gaza. The ban forced a group of European lawmakers to depart from the breakaway Turkish Cypriot northern part of the island late Saturday.
Israel and Egypt imposed the blockade on Gaza after Hamas militants violently seized control of the seaside territory in June 2007.

Israel and Egypt imposed the blockade on Gaza after Hamas militants violently seized control of the seaside territory in June 2007.
Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon responded to what he called “anti-Semitic chants” that came from the ship’s passengers and were broadcast on Israel Radio.
According to a radio report, some of the passengers on the flotilla were recorded shouting chants to remember Haifa since the army of Mohammed will soon return.
"Israel condemns the anti-Semitic chants that were publicized this morning," Ayalon said. "The fact that participants on the flotilla would chant such things shows the true nature of some of the participants and its real motivation. This amply demonstrates that many are not against a particular policy of the Israeli government, but have very real and dangerous hatred for Jews and the Jewish State."
Neighborhood Auction
A neighbor of ours is moving out to a new city to start a new life. It's kind of sad because I've become friends with them.
But I know that all of us need a change sometimes and if the life they want is in another city, then I will not stop them.
However, one of the things I am looking forward to by the end of the week is their neighborhood auction. Yes, they're selling almost all of their stuff.
I have my eye on the Samsung HDTV they have. I do hope I can get it at a good price. I badly need a new television set at home.
But I know that all of us need a change sometimes and if the life they want is in another city, then I will not stop them.
