HK, Singapore all set for start of 31 days of automated OAV

Notwithstanding some confusion in the list of voters, the Philippines’ poll body and its diplomatic posts in Hong Kong and Singapore have declared all systems go for the first automated overseas absentee voting (OAV) for overseas Filipinos in the two countries, which is set to start Saturday.

In Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China with nearly 100,000 Filipino voters, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal supervised on Friday the testing and sealing of the last of 20 Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines to be used in the OAV in the territory.

No problems were reported in the testing, according to GMA News’ 24-Oras newscast, with the PCOS machine accurately reflecting the votes contained in 10 test ballots.

I just read about this news that Samsung is coming up with a high capacity Spinpoint MP4 hard disk drive for laptops. This new Samsung Spinpoint MP4 is a 2.5-inch HDD which will be available in 250GB, 320GB, 500GB and 640GB capacities.

And best of all, it's available at 7200 RPM, which makes it one of the fastest high-density HDD in the market today. There are other large capacity drives in the market today but most of them lag on speed. This new product claims to be 30% faster.

I am excited to give this a try for I frequently do multi-tasking and play games on my PC. I hope that this HDD will be released soon. Samsung says they will make initial shipments by this month, April 2010.
