PCSO and Philhealth Sign a Memorandum of Agreement For The Benefit Of 200,000 Transport Workers Nationwide

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) has been signed to provide health coverage of public transport workers.

Under the memorandum of agreement, the PCSO shall finance the coverage of various transport organizations to the National Health Insurance Program under the sponsored Program of Philhealth amounting to P120M. The PCSO has allocated funds from its Charity Fund as payment for the local government premium counterpart for the initial enrollment of 200,000 indigent transport workers from different transport groups nationwide.

The Philhealth’s Sponsored Program for public transport workers includes both outpatient and inpatient hospital care, consultation and diagnostic packages. In return, the various transport groups agreed to support the products and different charitable projects of the government and the Philippine Charity Sweepstake Office.

The PCSO, being the country's principal government agency that raises and provides funds for various health and social welfare programs for the less privileged Filipinos, supports the government’s priority to grant health benefits for indigent transport workers who regularly provide services and convenience to the public. Moreover, Article XIII of the 1987 Philippine Constitution mandates the State to adopt an approach to health development which shall endeavor to make essential goods, health and other social services available to all the people at affordable cost.

The government believes that having healthy public utility drivers and operators, all passengers and pedestrians will be assured of safe and protected travel, ultimately serving the general welfare of the people.

Things To Prepare For The Weekend Trip

I'm going out this weekend for a short vacation and I'm now using this blog entry to list some of the things I need to pack and prepare.

First, I need some hiking boots and tent. Yes, I'm going camping.

Also, I'd need to have my camera batteries and mobile phones fully charged before I go. I'm planning to take lots of pictures and of course, I would need my phone just in case someone in the city wants to contact me and vice versa.

And lastly, buy some snacks and drinks which I will bring to the trip. Some chips and several bottles of mineral water will actually do.
