Runners by the thousands participated in the 28th Annual Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon. Runners who took part in the 26.2 mile run were 3617.
These athletes came from 21 countries to participate in the race. In the Twin Cities Marathon, 31% runner belongs to the U.S. and for the first time, represent each state of the United States.
The starting point of the race was near the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis while its finishing line was at the state Capitol in St. Paul. The race starts at 8 a.m.
James Chalmers also made the run today. 37-year-old James Chalmers is the Special Olympics Minnesota athlete and coach as well.
On behalf of athletes with intellectual disabilities and Special Olympics Minnesota, James Chalmers will make the 2009 marathon.
