Rafael Nadal loses the 2009 French Open. Yes, this four-time defending champion lost to Robin Soderling of Sweden with scores 6-2, 6-7 (2), 6-4, 7-6 (2) yesterday.
It was the fourth round of the tennis tournament. The loss ended his 31-match winning streak at Roland Garros. Soderling is seeded at number 23 for this year.
Meanwhile, women's singles defending champion Ana Ivanovic also lost against 9th see, Victoria Azarenka of Belarus with 2-6, 3-6. However, while top-seeded Dinara Safina advanced to the quarterfinals with another easy win.
