For Sale By Owner

I recently saw an ad on the newspaper and it says, For Sale By Owner. And written below is the price. That made me scratch my head, so what's being sold by the owner for 50 bucks? What's the item for sale? That really have me quite a laugh.

Anyway, I realized that newspapers are not as reliable as they used to be. Even I have become more dependent online for the news and don't read anymore. I guess traditional media and practices are slowly being replaced by the more efficient and fast paced world of the internet.

Just like shopping, watching movies and many others. Websites are being born everyday that's making it more convenient for us to just log in and do our tasks.

Wimbledon: Who Will Be This Year's Male Singles Champion?

federer nadal
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, tennis's glittering top of the bill double act, clash in a third successive Wimbledon final on Sunday to determine who is the world's best player.

The final will be the sixth time the elegant Swiss and the muscular Spaniard have met in a Grand Slam final, bettering the five played by Mats Wilander and Ivan Lendl, and then Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi in the 1980s and 1990s.

Federer has won two on the grass of the All England Club in 2006 and 2007; Nadal has claimed three on his beloved Roland Garros clay in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Never have the stakes been higher.

A victory for Federer will make him the first man since the 19th century to win six Wimbledons in a row.

A win for Nadal, on the other hand, will take him alongside Rod Laver and Bjorn Borg as the only man to win the French Open and Wimbledon in the same season.

He would also become the first Spanish men's champion since Manuel Santana in 1966.

It's hardly surprising that the 26-year-old Federer and Nadal, just 22, are keen to stress that the pressure is on the other.

"For me, Roger is the best in history," said Nadal who stormed to a fourth successive French Open title a month ago destroying Federer in a brutally one-sided final where the world number one won just four games.

That Paris annihilation, coupled with Nadal taking Federer to an epic five-set final here in 2007, has led many to suggest that the era of the Swiss superstar's dominance is at an end.

He may have been world number one for 231 weeks, and can lay claim to 12 Grand Slam titles compared to Nadal's four, but many argue that Nadal, especially with a first grasscourt title from Queen's tucked under his belt, is really the world's preeminent tennis talent.

"If I have the title on Sunday, then on Monday I'll continue to be the number two but I'll have more chances to become the number one in the next months," said a cautious Nadal.

He may boast 11 wins in 17 meetings with Federer, but nine of those have come on clay.

Furthermore, Federer insists that the trauma of Paris is now a distant memory even if the media revel in reminding him of his latest failed French Open campaign.

"That final is out of the picture. I hardly remember it. It went so quickly," said Federer who remains fulsome in his praise of his tormentor.

"I'm not going to draw anything out of that match because Rafa plays so different on clay and grass. He plays so much closer to the baseline that I have to draw from my two previous Wimbledon finals.

"I enjoy the challenge. Rafa is a great competitor. He's got a winning record over me. Every time I play him I want to try to beat him. The thing is, I've played him so often on clay, it's more of an advantage for him in the head-to-heads.

"At the same time, he's now become so good on all other surfaces as well that he's a real threat on anything."

Federer has waltzed into his sixth final virtually untroubled.

He has been detained on court for over two hours only once in his six matches and has yet to drop a set. But he only met one seeded player.

That run has allowed him to take his grasscourt winning streak to 65 matches, a run stretching back to 2002.

Nadal's route was slightly tougher having to see off three seeded players but dropping serve just once against the promising Latvian Ernests Gulbis in the second round.

"My way to the final's been great," said Federer.

"I've just been playing consistently well. I wasn't pushed to the degree where I have to say I played my best tennis ever.

"If I were to win on Sunday, then maybe I can say I've been playing my best ever."

A Laptop Memory Problem

A friend of mine is using an old Sony VAIO laptop which he purchased in 2002. It is running around 250MB RAM, and 20GB storage capacity. He just uses it to browse the internet, and have hardly any programs installed on it, but it keeps telling me there is not enough memory.

When he consulted this problem to me, I thought that his problem could be the lack of laptop memory. He is running Windows XP, which should have 512MB or MORE.

However, I asked him to do the following steps first:
1. Run Disk Cleanup - from the System Tools section of Accessories
2. Open My Computer, then Right Click on your C drive and pick PROPERTIES. Pick the Tools section and click on CHECK NOW. Check both tests, and YES, let it run after you restart. You see, CHECK DISK will ensure that your hard drive is working completely. This test might take an hour or so.
3. Run DEFRAG - from the System Tools section of Accessories.

If these doesn't cure the problem, then I guess it's time for him to have his computer upgraded to a higher memory.

Life Lessons From Kung Fu Panda

The animated Hollywood comedy "Kung Fu Panda" has led artists in China to find fault with their own film industry and call for fewer government controls on culture.

The blockbuster movie hit that tells the story of a fat panda who dreams of martial arts glory, was faithful to Chinese culture and laced with good humor. However, China itself may have been incapable of producing such a film, a Chinese filmmaker and opera director lamented.

"The film's protagonist is China's national treasure and all the elements are Chinese, but why didn't we make such a film?" Wu Jiang, president of the China National Peking Opera Company, was cited as saying by Xinhua news agency on Saturday.

Lu Chuan, a young film director, applauded "Kung Fu Panda" as a fresh and rich take on Chinese culture, mixing references to martial arts films with classic legends.

"I cannot help wondering when China will be able to produce a movie of this caliber," he wrote in the China Daily on Saturday.

Lu said the government was stifling the creativity of China's filmmakers, explaining how he had been asked to make an animated film for the Olympic Games, which will be hosted by Beijing in August, but decided to walk away from the project.

"I kept receiving directions and orders on how the movie should be like," he said. "The fun and joy from doing something interesting left us, together with our imagination and creativity."

An advisory body to the country's rubber-stamp parliament debated this week why a film like "Kung Fu Panda," produced by DreamWorks Animation, had not been made in China, Xinhua reported.

A standing committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Congress said that, though there was no secret ingredient to filmmaking success, the government ought to relax its oversight. Opening more space for Chinese artists would allow more innovation, ultimately giving China greater cultural influence abroad, they concluded.

Some Chinese critics had called for a boycott of "Kung Fu Panda" because Steven Spielberg, an executive at DreamWorks, quit his role as artistic adviser to the Beijing Olympics to protest China's links to the Sudanese government.

Zhao Bandi, a Chinese artist who features pandas in his work, also called for people to shun the film, saying that foreigners were profiteering from China's national symbol.

But Zhao has since come under fire from Chinese critics for misguided nationalism, while theatre operators have reported packed houses for "Kung Fu Panda."

The comedy had earned $16 million at the Chinese box office as of Wednesday, according to its distributors. Any film that grosses $15 million is considered a big hit in China.

James Bond: Quantum Of Solace Trailer

There's a new James Bond movie that will be out on November 7, 2008. It is subtitled, Quantum of Solace. Before you go and watch the movie trailer, let us first discuss the meaning of Quantum of Solace:

Quantum of Solace is a small degree of comfort that can exist between two people emotionally in a relationship. The Governor character in the Ian Fleming short story of the same name defines it as "a precise figure defining the comfort, humanity and fellow feeling required between two people for love to survive. If the quantum of solace is nil, then love is dead."

Additionally, Quantum of Solace is the title of a story published in For Your Eyes Only in which James Bond plays a very small part.

Congratulations to Manny Pacquiao for winning the match against David Diaz. It's been said that the Pinoy boxing champion will retire after one more final fight. This is scheduled in November. I think that this is a wise decision for he needs to stop and enjoy all the fruits of his labor. He is now richer than a Pinoy lotto winner.

Quotes from Wimbledon 2008

"The thing is Pete (Sampras) played on Court 2 after winning seven years. Who deserves what here? It's the club who decides in the end. You know, we're happy to be playing here. They [the club]- can put us at Aorangi or Roehampton if they want to, but we have to accept the fact." — Roger Federer responding to the fourth round scheduling which saw both Venus and Serena Williams appear on Court 2.

"I don't know what they are doing, you know, to put Venus on No. 2 and I'm on No. 18. So it was quite hard. I was almost playing in the parking lot. I almost need a helicopter to go to my court." — Jelena Jankovic finds something to joke about after crashing out in her fourth round match against Tamarine Tanasugarn.

"I don't have a good memory. I need to get another memory. I'm desperate to get another memory." — Serena Williams confronts a slight case of amnesia after her straight sets victory over fellow American Bethanie Mattek.

"If you want to beat Nadal you have to play not just not bad, you have to play good or sometimes very good." — After losing in straight sets, Mikhail Youzhny reveals the secret to defeating the world number two.

"Spain don't make me win. But, of course we are so happy that they won the Euro. It's so important for the country." — Feliciano Lopez ensures that he takes all of the credit for his 5-7, 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 8-6 fourth round victory over Marcos Baghdatis.

"They’re serving bombs." — Svetlana Kuznetsova highlights an unfair advantage held by the Williams sisters.

Is Internet For P0rn?

I watched Avenue Q a few weeks ago and the most memorable line from the play is that it claims the internet is simply for p0rn. Do you agree?

If you do, then you may want to check out this website, www.globalpartyhardcore.com which is an adult website that features ordinary girls in a disco having amorous fun with hunky males.

This website is different from other adult-related sites because it appeals to both men and women, regardless of their preference. Furthermore, it is conveniently geo-targeted in 37 languages - which means that visitors will automatically see the site in their local language.

GlobalPartyHardc0re is mostly a CFNM site. If you are not familiar with the CFNM term, well it just stands for C-lothed F-emale, N-ude M-ale. This is a new phenomenon that's sweeping clubs across the world. It is associated with a party atmosphere.

Bachelorette parties, birthday parties and others. The men involved are usually str|ppers of some sort, very muscular men with very good bodies. They go around to the girls at the party, and allow them to touch them, and maybe even give them other tasks, if you know what I mean. The women are usually just normal women, out there having a good time and not thinking much of it.

So visit their website now and have some internet fun.

Nail Art Pictures

Nail art seems to be catching on in fashion lately here in Manila, the Philippines. I see a lot of hand and foot salons adding nail art to their list of services. I can understand why women love having their nails done and consequently, adding some art into it and not just plain colors. It is another way of expressing oneself and standing out of the crowd.

We often consider our nails as just a simple part of our hands and feet. But with nail art becoming popular among the middle class, it's changing everyone's perspective and ordinary people are beginning to appreciate the artistic beauty of creative nail arts.

Here are some nail art pictures which I was able to gather from the internet: (If you want to watch a video of nail art, click here)

Shopping For Pet Supplies

Last April, a Miniature Pinscher wandered around our front house and it looks like it was lost. Do you remember me blogging about that incident? If yes, well, here's an update.

That dog is still with me and now she has a name, it's Juno! I adore her so much because she's very friendly and gentle. I often buy her pet supplies to thank her for the love and attention that she gives regularly to me.

If you want to relieve some stress and forget your work problems, playing with your pet surely helps a lot. I believe that I read somewhere that most pet owners live longer and are healthier than those who don't have animals at home. That's a little trivia you should think about.
