This is a tutorial on setting up PSP internet. I'm writing about this because a friend of mine wanted to know how to get internet on his PSP. Yes, he wants to get internet connection in his PSP, so I'm writing this how to and tutorial for him and for everyone else who want to know about get PSP internet.
PSP Internet Setup Step 1
PSP can detect any wireless network within its ranges as long as the WiFi adapter is on. The switch is on the left side of the PSP, near the analogue thumbstick. Push the switch up to turn it on. Keep it off if you're not using wireless connection to save the PSP battery life.
PSP Internet Setup Step 2
When the PSP wireless adapter is on, it will look for wireless networks. If there is another PSP within range, an ad-hoc network will automatically be set up between the two. You can now play multiplayer games between the two PSP units - one will be hosting the game while the other will connect. But when you want to join an existing wireless network to browse the internet, then you need to use the infrastructure wireless networking mode of the PSP
PSP Internet Setup Step 3
Go to the home screen of your PSP and choose Settings. When you scroll all the way to the bottom, you will see Network Settings. Choose this and you will be asked between Ad-Hoc and Infrastructure. Select the latter one by pressing X. Then Press O to go to the previous screen. Now you need to set up a Connection. Remember that you can save up to 10 different Connections for 10 different places where you frequently access the internet.
PSP Internet Setup Step 4
Select New Connection and press X. Give the new connection a name. Make it descriptive. Afterwards, you will be asked if you want to scan for WLAN settings or enter them manually. It's better to choose the Scan option and let your PSP look for any available networks and set up the settings needed automatically.
PSP Internet Setup Step 5
The list of available networks will be displayed. These are Access Points that have SSID names, encryption type and signal strength. When there is more than one network, simply use the D-pad to scroll down to the network you want to connect to and press X. You will then be asked to confirm the settings. Just press right on the
D-pad to scroll through. For security settings, choose the appropriate one from the list. This is usually WEP. Press right on the D-pad again. You may need to ask the WiFi network administrator for the WEP key if the network is secure.
PSP Internet Setup Step 6
After setting up all these and you arrive at the final screen, simply save it. Hopefully, you will now be able to connect to the wireless network and surf the internet using your PSP. You can go to the Network section at the far right of the home screen to use the built-in internet browser for the PSP.
And this ends our tutorial on how to set up wireless internet on the PSP.
