Team Philippines leaves for Beijing and four more Filipinos will see action in the Olympics. A special event in this Olympiad will be Wushu and our delegates for this one are Ang, Javier, Camacho, Martelino, and dela Pena.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will meet the the 15 Filipino athletes in a sendoff ceremony in Malacanang on Aug. 1 to be escorted by Olympic chief of mission Rep. Monico Puentevella. Afterwards they will attend the 6 p.m. First Friday Mass at the Brent Gym inside the Philsports Arena in Pasig City where they will be joined by the rest of the 31-man delegation to China. President Arroyo has also confirmed her attendance at the opening ceremony on Aug. 8 to provide moral support to the athletes who will compete in seven events.
