Mother's Day Is Not Always During The Second Sunday Of May

Did you know that Mother's Day is not always celebrated during the second Sunday of May. In some countries, it is celebrated at a different date. The reason for this is because in some places, they celebrate Mother's Day in line with another occasion such as Women's Day.

Here's a list of some countries and the dates when they celebrate Mother's Day:
  • Norway celebrates Mother's Day on the second Sunday of February.
  • In Afghanistan, Serbia and Ukraine, Mother's Day is celebrated on March 8.
  • Ireland, Nigeria and the United Kingdom, Mothering Sunday is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent (March 2 for 2008)
  • Hungary, Portugal and Spain celebrates Mother's Day on the first Sunday of May.
  • Mother's Day is May 10 in El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico.
